March 2025 Spotlight: Bryon Gobber

March 2025 Spotlight: Bryon Gobber

Meet Bryon Gobber, a retired fire chief and former correctional officer who has dedicated his life to serving others. Now, he faces one of the toughest battles of his own—he is in need of a kidney transplant.

Despite these challenges, Bryon finds joy in spending time with his beloved service dog, Mogwai, who tragically became paralyzed just a week after Bryon learned he needed a kidney. He is also the proud guardian of his granddaughter, Selena, whom he cherishes with all his heart.

In May 2024, Bryon was rushed to the hospital with difficulty breathing and received devastating news—cancer in his left kidney. He made the difficult decision to undergo surgery to remove the kidney, and now he relies on dialysis for 10 hours each night. Then, in October 2024, he suffered a stroke that left him permanently blind in his left eye, with a high risk of future strokes.

The past two years have been incredibly challenging for Bryon and his family, both emotionally and financially. Yet, through it all, he continues to fight with resilience and strength.

This March, the Transplant Alliance Foundation is dedicating our Mission Monday Bingo Night to Bryon, helping to raise funds for his transplant journey and ongoing medical needs. Let’s rally together and support him in any way we can!
