Transplant Games of America
The Transplant Games of America have come to an end. I am blessed to be on this transplant journey. It is a journey I never asked for. It all started when Mary Jo Lovely’s first husband Steve passed away on 5/17/1998. At 37 Mary became a widow and a Donor Wife. And in less than 10 years she had her first lung transplant. Soon after recovering her from transplant, she started Transplant Alliance. In 2015 she received her second lung transplant. That is when we became a 501c3.
The games are always very rewarding and emotionally moving. As usual Gift of Life Donor Program did a spectacular job in ensuring Team Philadelphia at the Transplant Games of America members are all taken care of. They go out of their way ensuring Donor Families, Living Donors and Transplant Recipients are well cared for.
Birmingham Alabama is a beautiful place. Everyone we spoke with went out of their way with Southern Hospitality. All the people at the Sheraton, all the restaurants and people we met were great!
