Donor Family Fundraiser

Donor Family Fundraiser

Transplant Alliance Foundation will be hosting a Designer Bag Bingo proudly supporting Donor parents Al and Pat Hieber.

In 1999, their son Chris tragically died. Chris was a loving son, brother, grandson and friend. So loving, at the age of 16, at the Delaware DMV, Chris selflessly signed his organ donor card. Sadly, the day before Chris took his driver’s test, he passed away. Because of Chris’s generosity, 5 people received a second chance at life. Chris was able to donate his heart, both kidneys, lungs, liver, bone and tissue. Chris strongly believe in the power of donation because in 1997, his Aunt Lu died waiting for a liver. For the past 22 years, Pat and Al have been active volunteers with the Gift of Life Donor Program supporting other donor families.

The Hieber Family were always first in line to help anyone in need. Now is our chance to help them. Pat’s husband of 29 years, soulmate and best friend Al just returned home from a 3 month stay in VA hospitals (both Veterans Hospital in Philly and Delaware) and a rehabilitation center after having his leg amputated. Through Al’s determination and everyone’s daily prayers, Al made it through many surgeries and survived a severe infection. Al also fought and served our country in the US Coast Guard. Al was one of 8,000 Coast Guardsmen who served in Vietnam. Al is a Hero. Al is recovering at home and making amazing progress. Going forward, there may be some medical and bathroom renovation expenses that Pat & Al may incur. This is where we can help.

Please come out to State Street Bingo on October 2, 2021. 100% of the night’s profits will go to support this truly amazing family. It will be a fun night for a great cause. Seating is limited. Get your tickets early!
